The Design Atelier
A home is a place rich in heritage and abundant in memories, absorbing experience from old friends and passing it on to new. The history of a place is preserved in its walls. We created The Design Atelier as a way to help our customers create a home that tells their story.
The Design Atelier is a husband and wife run business. The business was founded in 2012 by graphic designer and illustrator Michelle McKinnon. Michelle has formal training in graphic design and has worked in the industry for over 15 years. Michelle draws inspiration from her love of maps and the Australian landscape. Having worked for the Victorian State Government in land management and planning she has developed an appreciation for the diversity and uniqueness of the Australian landscape both natural and urban. She is fascinated by the urban environment and the places we live.
At The Design Atelier we produce our prints with quality products and with longevity in mind.
Our prints are archival quality and are designed and made in Australia. All of our prints and frames are made to order in our Melbourne studio. We use acid free materials for mounting to ensure your print will last. We use heavy weight 100% cotton rag paper which is free of acid, chlorine and brighteners so there is no yellowing over time. When it comes to framing, we use custom Australian made frames using Australian timbers.
Our framed prints are very popular simply because everything is done for you – just unwrap and hang.
